ISLAMABAD -- Parliament was the backbone for a strong and vibrant Pakistan and was the voice of the common man, said President Dr. Arif Alvi, while talking to the delegation/participants of 6th National Parliamentary Development Course at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Thursday.

He also appreciated the role of the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services in imparting quality training to the participants. The President emphasized that our founding fathers envisioned Pakistan to be a democratic country and highlighted that the constitution of Pakistan defines the role and functions of the President, Senate, National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies. Furthermore, he said that the Parliamentarians came from different backgrounds and this diversity was the beauty and the strength of our democracy.
