Pakistan to help rebuild Nagorno-Karabakh.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan yesterday pledged to help rebuild Nagorno-Karabakh after Azerbaijan's historic victory in the recent conflict against Armenia.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held meetings with President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to discuss the bilateral ties and cooperation.

Speaking to the Azerbaijan FM, President Alvi underlined the need to enhance cultural and commercial ties between the two countries. He reaffirmed Pakistan's support for territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The President congratulated the government and people of Azerbaijan over the liberation of Nagorno Karabakh. President Alvi said Pakistan highly valued its relations with Azerbaijan which are based on common faith and cultural linkages.

He underlined the need to expand the bilateral volume of trade and further promotion of cultural and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan said both the countries had a great potential for increasing trade and cultural cooperation.

He thanked Pakistan for supporting Azerbaijan's stance on Nagorno Karabakh. The visiting FM said country would continue to stand by Pakistan on Kashmir issue at all international fora.

Later, the Azerbijhan FM met Prime Minister Imran Khan. During the meeting, PM Khan emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and energy cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The Prime Minister extended felicitations on Azerbaijan's recent success in liberation of its occupied territories.

On Azerbaijan's call for support in reconstruction and development of liberated territories, the Prime Minister assured him of all possible assistance from Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov conveyed cordial greetings of President Ilhan Aliyev to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan's support on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and reaffirmed Azerbaijan's consistent support and solidarity on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi received Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his delegation here and the two sides reviewed the entire gamut of Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues, said a foreign ministry statement.
