Pakistan Day celebrated with national zeal in KP.

LAKKI MARWAT/BAJAUR -- Functions were held in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to celebrate Pakistan Day with national zeal and fervour.

In Lakki Marwat, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hadi hoisted national flag at a ceremony in the district headquarters complex Tajazai.

A police contingent and Rescue 1122 officials presented a salute to the national flag while the national anthem was also played.

'We all renew our pledge on this day that we will work together for the country's development, prosperity and integrity,' Mr Hadi told the ceremony.

Special prayers offered for prosperity of country

The district administration and army with support of education and youth affairs departments and Boy Scouts Association also arranged a function at Government Postgraduate College in Lakki city to mark the day.

Assistant Commissioner Tariq Mehmood was chief guest on the occasion. Along with army officials, district youth officer Abdul Qadir Betanni and ADEO Dr Ihsanullah also attended the function.

Students sang patriotic and national songs and highlighted the importance of the day in their speeches.

Mr Tariq along with army officials distributed trophies and cash prizes among students.

Speaking on the occasion, Brig Tayyab said that the purpose of holding game and sport events in connection with Pakistan Day celebrations was to convey the message to people that freedom was the greatest blessing for which their forefathers rendered great sacrifices.
