Pakistan army has nothing to do with the politics: DG ISPR.

RAWALPINDI -- Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar on Monday has categorically stated that Pakistan army has nothing to do with the politics and no backdoor contacts and backdoor channels are being used for this purpose. He said that the people who are spreading rumors about this, I had requested them and will again request them to not drag the army in the politics, adding that we have hands full and we have big duty to see the security related internal and external threats and we are performing it in befitting manner.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Major General Babar Iftikhar said that without any evidence and research commenting and talking about it suits anyone. He said that this kind of rumors should stop, adding that whosoever are commenting about if they have any evidence and proof and if they could bring anything according to research then they should present and show who is calling whom and talking whom, adding that there is no such thing happening so I would again request that please do not drag the institution into this.

Replying a question about the rumors of backdoor contacts between the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and establishment, Major General Babar Iftikhar said that usually he avoids commenting on such matters, but however many rumors are being spread for some time about this, adding that there is no reality in these rumors. Major General Babar Iftikhar said that we have no need of backdoor contacts, adding that we are doing our work, adding that it is my request that if anyone has something about it then he should present that who talked with whom and contacted whom, adding that nothing like this is going on.

Major General Babar Iftikhar said that politics should be left for the politicians, adding that analysts and party leaders are talking with each other and it is part of political dialogue; however baseless allegations against Pakistan army and spreading this kind of rumors is not right.

Major General Babar Iftikhar said that it's inappropriate to comment on political matters and linking it to the army without any evidence or research.
