'Over 2m flood-hit families provided assistance'.

ISLAMABAD -- The government has so far extended financial assistance to as many as 2,687,926 families affected by the floods this year, said Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation Faisal Karim Kundi here on Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Kundi said that over 97pc of the affected population has been covered.

Out of 2,759,601 families, 2,687,926 have received financial assistance, he said.

An amount of Rs 25,000 per family was being provided to the flood-affected families in a transparent way, he said.
