Opposition vows to stay put even if protest lasts for months.

KOHAT -- Participants at a multiparty conference minus JI and JUI-S held here on Friday under the aegis of central Rahbar Committee vowed to give all moral, political and logistical support to the Azadi March on Islamabad called by the JUI-F, even if it prolongs for months.

The leaders of the business community and chairmen of former local bodies also attended the meeting.

Many party heads, when contacted, told Dawn that they had started collecting donations for the march on the directives of the provincial and central leaders.

JUI-F spokesperson for Kohat district Zainul Abideen said the central leaders of the Rahbar Committee had not included JI and JUI-S in the list of the opposition parties taking part in the Azadi March because they had refused to take part in the march. He said in all nine parties participated in the MPC.

The conference was held at the hujra of Ghulam Habib, patron-in-chief of JUI-F.

Mr Abideen said the opposition parties had demanded lifting of the ban on the telecast of speeches of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and urged courts to take notice of the unconstitutional role of Pemra.

He said according to the plan marches would be held at all the district headquarters on Oct 27 to express solidarity with Kashmiris. It would be followed by Azadi March on Islamabad on Oct 31.

TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir opposition parties on Friday announced to fully participate in the Oct 31 Azadi March of the JUI-F to get rid of the incumbent government.

The announcement was made during a multiparty conference organised by the JUI-F at Timergara which was attended by local leaders and activists of different political parties.
