KARACHI -- The Sindh authorities on Thursday issued an order under the relevant law to detain four accused persons in a kidnapping and murder case of US journalist Daniel Pearl, whose conviction was recently overturned by the Sindh High Court, for three months on account of perceived public safety grounds, officials told Dawn.

Two officials in the Central Prison Karachi and the Sindh home department on condition of anonymity told Dawn that British-Pakistani citizen Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, Fahad Naseem, Sheikh Adil and Salman Saqib, had been detained at the prison till Sept 30.

They added that the home department of Sindh had issued a notification to this effect.
