OGDCL's exploration rig in Fatehjang quarantined.

TAXILA -- The health authorities on Sunday quarantined Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL's) exploration rig in Fatehjang after one of their employees tested positive for Covid-19.

District Health Officer Dr Asad Ismail preventive services along with Deputy District Officer (health) Dr Junaid Sadiq visited the site after an ambulance driver working there tested positive for Covid-19.

Samples from 11 employees, who had interacted with the patient, were taken and sent to National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad for testing.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Ismail said: 'Taking precautionary measures, the exploration rig was quarantined to stop the possible spread of the deadly viral disease.' He said the driver was already in isolation and under treatment.

The health team has also carried out screening of over 100 employees working in the rig on Sunday. All had no symptoms, however, the installation has been quarantined as per the government's health protocol.

He said police teams had been deployed around the installation to ensure that it remains under quarantine. OGDCL's own security wing is also ensuring that the health protocol is followed.
