Officials claim decline in dengue cases.

KARACHI -- The provincial dengue control programme on Wednesday claimed that cases of dengue haemorrhagic fever were declining, though the lethal disease was still infecting a large chunk of the population on a daily basis, officials said.

'At least 300 dengue cases were being reported a day last month; this month, the number of daily cases has declined to 200,' a manager of the dengue control programme noted in a report sent to the city commissioner.

The lethal mosquito that caused this disease would hibernate in cooler temperatures and that could be the reason behind that as winter was around the corner, said an expert.
