Officials check flour quality in surprise visit to mills.

LAKKI MARWAT -- The district food authorities on Tuesday raided several flour mills in Bannu to check quality, quantity and weight of flour and other relevant record of the units.

A team led by district food controller Sohail Habib also collected samples of flour from the mills and sent the same for laboratory test.

The officials also checked hygiene conditions at the mills and issued instructions with regard to improving the situation.

Mr Habib told journalists that the food department would initiate action against the owners of flour mills on the basis of laboratory reports. He claimed that local flour mills got 126 tonnes wheat on a daily basis and a total of 4,410 bags each of 20-kilogram were being provided to the neighbourhood and village councils for distribution among people at subsidised rates.

CONTEST: Speakers at ceremony stressed the need for promoting self-accountability to curb corruption.

They said that youth should come forward and play an effective role to purge the country of corruption.

They were addressing the concluding session of inter-colleges debate, essay writing and painting competitions organised by youth affairs department at Government Postgraduate College. The theme of the competitions was anti-corruption.

In declamation contest, Shafqatullah grabbed first position while Aminullah and Wajahatullah secured first positions in essay writing and painting competitions, respectively.
