Notices issued on another MQM-P plea against govt recruitment process.

KARACHI -- The Sindh High Court on Monday issued notices to the provincial authorities and others on a petition filed by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan against the recruitment process of over 21,000 posts in various departments of the provincial government.

This time, MQM-P Senator Khalida Ateeb moved the SHC impugning two notifications issued by the provincial authorities in January and February last year to notify decisions of the provincial cabinet and issuing directives to fill over 21,300 posts in over 30 departments.

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Mohammad Junaid Ghaffar issued notices to the Sindh chief secretary, secretaries of the services, general administration and coordination, universities and boards departments, Sindh Public Service Commission, IBA-Sukkur and other respondents as well as the advocate general for the next hearing.

Earlier this year, MQM-P lawmaker Kanwar Naveed Jameel along with five others MPAs had also filed a petition in the SHC, but last month another two-judge bench had dismissed the plea over non-prosecution.

The lawyer for Senator Ateeb, Tariq Mansoor, contended that the respondents had no authority to issue the impugned notifications as they did it in violation of various provisions of the Constitution and applicable laws.

He maintained that that the recruitment against over 21,300 posts from BPS-1 to PBS-15 was being made without inviting tender, open competitive bidding, procurement plan and also not following relevant laws, mandatory provisions of Sindh Public Procurement Rules 2010.
