No medical student to be promoted without exam.

LAHORE -- The Inter-Medical University Board, consisting of the vice chancellors and rectors of medical varsities, on Monday unanimously decided that no student of any medical or dental college would be promoted to next class without passing the examination.

Announcing a uniform policy regarding online classes and assessments in medical and dental colleges in Punjab in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the board said supplementary examinations, which were postponed due to coronavirus in March this year, would be conducted in June after Eidul Fitr. It also decided not to award any grace marks to any failing candidate to pass the exam.

The meeting of the board was held here at the University of Health Sciences (UHS), chaired by UHS VC Prof Javed Akram.

Others who attended the meeting included King Edward Medical University (KEMU) VC Prof Khalid Masud Gondal, Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) VC Prof Aamir Zaman Khan, Faisalabad Medical University (FMU) VC Prof Zafar Ali Choudhry, Superior University's rector Dr Sumaira Rehman, Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) principal Prof Mehmood Ayaz, University of Lahore (UoL) pre-rector Prof Shahid Mahmud Malik, KEMU pro-VC Prof Ijaz Hussain, UHS registrar Prof Asad Zaheer and controller of examinations Dr Saqib Mehmood. Rawalpindi Medical University VC Prof Muhammad Umar and AJ and K Medical College Muzaffarabad Principal Prof Sarosh Majid participated through a video link.
