No decision taken so far for holding Senate polls through show of hand: ECP.

ISLAMABAD -- Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said no decision has been taken so far for holding Senate polls through show of hand.

'No decision has been taken uptill now for holding Senate polls through show of hand. ECP will follow article 226 of the constitution in connection with Senate polls. Government has not sent any application for holding polls in the month of February. Announcing election schedule is job of election commission and not some one else, this was said by a functionary of ECP to Online on Friday.

He stated that under article 226 of the constitution, all the elections except Prime Minister (PM) and Chief Minister (CM) polls are held through secret balloting and at present this law and constitution will be followed. It is mandatory that the constitutional amendment has to be got approved with two thirds majority for holding Senate polls...
