NHA housing scheme.

WAY back in 1995, I applied for a 1000-yard plot of land in Islamabad New City housing scheme, Zone V - a project of the National Highway Authority. For this purpose, an amount of Rs330,000 was paid up front.

This project was a public-private joint venture. Unfortunately, before the scheme could be executed the private company defaulted around year 2000. Later, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in pursuance of the decision of Economic Council Committee (ECC) of the federal cabinet filed a petition in Lahore High Court for the liquidation of the scheme.
