Newly elected PPP MNA from NA-221 Tharparkar, Peer Ameer Ali Shah Jeelani sworn in.

ISLAMABAD -- Newly elected Member of National Assembly (MNA) of Pakistan People's Party from NA-221 Tharparkar, Peer Ameer Ali Shah Jeelani took oath of office here on Friday.

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser administered the oath to him during the ongoing NA session.

Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) candidate Pir Amir Ali Shah Jeelani had won the by-polls in the National Assembly constituency, NA-221 Tharparkar on last Sunday.

According to unofficial results on Monday, the seat had fallen vacant after the death of PPP, Member of National Assembly (MNA) Peer Noor Muhammad Shah Geelani.

Returning Officer (RO) said PPP candidate Pir Amir Ali Shah Jeelani secured 102,232 votes and grabbed NA-221 Tharparkar by-election, while his opponent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Nizamud Din remained second by securing 52,522 votes. The turnout remained 58.88pc. Total 12 candidates had...
