New SZMCH principal to take charge today.

RAHIM YAR KHAN -- Prof Dr Muhammad Tariq, head of the neurosurgery department at the Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH), has been appointed as the principal of the hospital.

Former principal, Prof Dr Zafar Hussain Tanvir, had retired on Dec 12, but did not relieve his charge as he had filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court's Bahawalpur bench for his extension.

The high court bench disposed of his petition and directed the specialised healthcare and medical education secretary to finalise the matter of appointment of a new principal within 15 days.
