New AJK PM to be elected today.

MUZAFFARABAD -- President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has summoned session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to elect new prime minister.

The session of the AJK Legislative Assembly has been summoned for today (Monday) to elect new leader of the house.

PTI has nominated Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan for the premier and claimed of having support of 34 members of the assembly against the 27 members needed. The joint opposition has nominated Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen for the slot.

It is worth mentioning here that Azad Kashmir Supreme Court had ordered summoning of the separate session of the AJK Legislative Assembly in 14 days for the election of the new leader of the house on Saturday. The court delivered judgment on the appeal field by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf against the Azad Kashmir High Court to suspend the proceedings of the AJK legislative assembly conducted by Speaker Chaudhry Anwarul Haq on Friday. The court has directed President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry to summon the legislative assembly session and speaker should issue the schedule and hold voting for new prime minister position.
