Nepra increases electricity tariff by Rs 1.56 per unit.

ISLAMABAD -- The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced an increase in electricity tariff by Rs 1.56 per unit.

The decision is taken on account of monthly fuel price adjustment. According to details, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has decided to increase the price of electricity by Rs 1.56 per unit.

The decision is taken on account of fuel price adjustment for October, 2019 and will put an additional burden of Rs. 14 billion on electricity consumers.

On behalf of the distribution companies, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had filed a petition requesting an increase in tariff stating that the actual fuel price in the month of October was higher than that charged to the consumers.
