LAHORE -- An eight-event card, featuring the Neelum Cup for two-year-old thoroughbreds besides two other races for thoroughbred as its highlights, will be gone through when the ninth Lahore Winter Meeting gets under way here at the Racecourse on Saturday.

The races originally scheduled for Sunday are being held a day earlier.

The Neelum Cup to be gone over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres has 13 highly bred colts and fillies jostling for supremacy.

Thoroughbred racing ever has been capturing the attention and imagination of growing public passionate about horses and horse-racing.

The recent 20 per cent increase in the prize money on offer to all classes and categories of races has generated renewed interest by owners who have entered in all 86 acceptors for Saturday's races.

That will surely help the sport become more exciting and grow faster.
