Need to engage students on campuses.

LAHORE -- A consultative dialogue on 'effective engagements of students on the university campuses' was held here at the Government College University (GCU) on Friday.

Eminent academicians from leading public and private universities participated in the dialogue stressing the need for establishing student councils and societies in educational institutions for producing students with well-rounded personalities and leadership skills.

GCU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi said that heads of all educational institutions had a responsibility to provide conducive and peaceful environment to their students and faculty.

He said that student clubs and societies were acting as nurseries to inculcate in them character building, team spirit and leadership skills.

Former Punjab Higher Education Commission chairperson Prof Nizamuddin said that clashes erupted when universities' administrations did not adhere to the issues and complaints of students.
