Need stressed for increased use of renewables Workshop on Climate Change.

KARACHI -- Speakers at a workshop here on Wednesday underlined the need for increased usage of renewables in order to alleviate dangerous effects of carbon emissions due to burning of fossil fuels.

The experts were speaking at an Informational Workshop for Media on "Climate Change Reporting: Articulating Key Concerns" organised by The Knowledge Forum and Karachi Press Club on Wednesday at Ibrahim Jalees hall of the club.

The experts in energy and climate change gave their presentations on the environmental issues arising due to increased usage of fossil fuels like oil, gas and coal.

They emphasised that all over the world the usage of fossil fuels as energy source is declining due to environmental concerns.

However, they pointed out that in Pakistan the reliance on fossil fuels has increased tremendously.

On one hand we use our foreign exchange on imports of petroleum and LPG and on the hand our environment is polluting due to burning of fuel.

We have plenty of sunshine and air corridors to generate clean energy like solar...
