According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, nearly 4 in 10 parents believe that success and failures in their children's life are dependent on parents' hard work and upbringing; while 28% say it is children's own personality traits that determine success and failure.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces, who were parents, was asked "Which of the statements reflect your thinking?" In response to this question, 38% said that their children's success and failures depend on parents' hard work and upbringing, 28% said children's success and failures reflect their own weaknesses, 17% think it's both, 7% think it depends on neither while 8% think it mainly depends on the situation. 2% did not know or respond to the question.
