Naudero residents take to streets over unbridled robberies, street crimes.

LARKANA -- A large number of people took to the streets of Naudero on Saturday amid a sudden surge in robberies and street crimes over the last six days and failure of the local police to protect the lives and properties of citizens.

The call for the protest was given by leaders of various political, social, religious and trade organisations after many back to back incidents of house robberies and mugging in which several people were killed and wounded this week.

People from all walks of life participated in a procession which was taken out from Naudero Municipal Committee. Hafiz Mushtaque Korejo, Saeed Korejo, Abdul Quddus Panhwar, Manzoor Mangi, Barkat Lashari and others led the procession.

The participants carrying placards and raising slogans against the area police demanded an effective check on crimes and restoration of complete peace in the town.

They proceeded to the nearby section of Larkana-Sukkur road and blocked it by holding a sit-in, causing traffic jam for about two hours. They kept raising slogans against police during the course of the protest.

Speaking to them, the leaders deplored that robberies, theft and street crimes in Naudero had become order of the day causing panic and creating a sense of insecurity in local residents and visitors.

They pointed out that cash, gold ornaments, prize bonds and other valuables worth Rs15 million had been taken away in a recent armed robbery in the house of Prof Dr Saleemullah in the Post Office locality recently. In the same night, they added...
