National Covid-19 positivity ratio drops to 3.96pc.

ISLAMABAD -- While 1,594 more people tested positive for coronavirus and 48 patients died in a single day, the national average positivity ratio remained at 3.96 per cent on Sunday.

Most deaths were reported from Punjab i.e. 24. Sindh reported 13 deaths, Khyber PakhtunAkhwa (KP) recorded six, while Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) reported the death of two patients each, and Balochistan recorded one death.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, out of 48 deaths, 23 died on ventilators. The total number of deaths swelled to 11,295.

The NCOC said the positivity ratio of Sindh was 10.23pc, AJK 5.97pc, KP 5.25pc, Balochistan 3.52pc, Punjab 2.54pc, Islamabad 1.18pc and GB 0.56pc. Area-wise highest positivity ratio was observed in Hyderabad with 11.57pc, followed by Peshawar 11.29pc and Karachi 10.68pc.

While currently 2,273 Covid-19 patients were in critical condition, 304 ventilators were occupied across the country with no patient on vent in AJK, Gilgit BalAtistan (GB) and Balochistan. The data regarding ventilators showed that in Multan 38pc ventilators were in use, Lahore's 37pc, Islamabad's 35pc and Bahawalpur's 32pc vents were occupied. Oxygen beds-related data depicted that in Peshawar 45pc, Karachi's 38pc, Multan's 36pc and Rawalpindi's 27pc beds were occupied.

Total number of active Covid-19 cases in Pakistan was 34,628 and as many as 486,489 people recovered from disease. So far over 7.6 million tests have been conducted.

In Punjab, Bahawalpur's positivity ratio was 4.46pc, Lahore's 4.23pc, Faisalabad's 3.21pc, Multan's 1.91pc and Rawalpindi's positivity ratio was 1.14pc.
