Nadra, Shifa hospital join hands to ensure transparency in organ donation.

ISLAMABAD -- The health sector is all set to leverage the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) e-health digital suite in order to ensure transparency and fairness in organ allocation and transplantation.

Nadra Chairman Tariq Malik and Shifa International Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Manzoorul Haq Qazi inked an agreement on the provision of an identity verification solution which would authenticate and verify the patients as well as donors of organ transplantation.

Taking stock of perennial issues in the healthcare sector, Nadra Chairman Tariq Malik has rolled out the solution under the umbrella of e-health suite. It has been envisioned that the initiative will curb illegal trafficking of organs through an airtight mechanism of compliance, registration and swift and hassle-free verification in organ allocation and transplant.

The Nadra chairman said: 'Nadra has pivoted the ID ecosystem to introduce e-health initiatives, one of which is the current solution that will make the process of organ donation and transplant, transparent and accountable. Nadra, the most responsive public sector organisation, has once again demonstrated its utmost commitment towards providing a very smart solution to resolve one of the longstanding issues in the health sector, which is to combat illegal organ trafficking.

'We have introduced the digital e-health suite for swift verification of recipients and donors, which will further help health service providers combat illegal trade and transplantation of human cells, organs and tissues.
