'NAB more interested in sullying reputations than investigation'.

LAHORE -- Jamaat-i-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq on Thursday said that impression of injustice and discrimination was strongly emerging among the masses about the ongoing accountability drive in the country.

Addressing the meeting of JI shoora (central executive council) at its headquarters Mansoora, he said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seemed more interested in sullying people's reputations than focusing on investigation into corruption charges against them.

The JI chief criticised the government for jeopardising the national economy and devising external and internal policies under the influence of foreign powers.

He said the skyrocketing inflation, rising unemployment and poor law and order situation were hitting the common man hard, but the government was completely turning a blind eye to their problems.

Haq said the government claim about fall in imports was a joke as they reduced because of closing down of businesses and development projects. He alleged the IMF and the World Bank had taken control of the government affairs in the country.

The senator said that different state institutions were in a state of clash, badly affecting the life of common man and rendering the state vulnerable to the enemies' designs. The government, he said, had virtually become non-existent in the overall scenario and had 'completely surrendered before the American policies'.

Meanwhile, addressing a teachers' convention held here under the umbrella of the National Association for Education, Mr Haq voiced concern over the parallel systems of education running in the country, saying the children from the privileged class...
