MQM-P names Subzwari, Khalida as Senate candidates.

KARACHI -- Ending rumours of a rift within the party over allocation of party tickets for the March 3 Senate election, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan on Monday evening announced that it would contest election only on a general and women-reserved seats while Faisal Subzwari and Khalida Atiyab would be its candidates.

A meeting of the party's coordination committee, chaired by convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, was held at the temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad.

It decided to field senior leader Faisal Subzwari on a general seat and Khalida Atiyab on a women-reserved seat for the March 3 election.

Over a dozen candidates of the MQM had filed their nomination papers for the upcoming election and as per party's decision they will withdraw their candidature by the last date.

The Senate election in Sindh is going to take place on 11 seats - seven general seats and two seats each reserved for technocrats and woman.
