MPAs urge govt to take action against drug addicts.

LAHORE -- Some PML-N lawmakers have drawn the attention of the government towards an increase in the use of drugs in the province.

The Punjab Assembly session was held at Aiwan-i-Iqbal here on Monday. It was presided over by a panel of chairman Tahir Khalil Sindhu. PA Speaker Parvez Elahi and opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf are holding a separate session at the PA building. The opposition has termed the Awan-i-Iqbal session illegal.

PML-N lawmaker Azma Bokhari said drug addicts could be seen on both sides of the canal. There were six points on Canal Road where the youth converged and consumed drugs. The same situation is in Shah Jamal, she said, and demanded immediate action to make Lahore drug-free. Another MPA also asked the Hamza administration to monitor drug sales outside the educational institutions in the province.

Zakia Shahnawaz stressed raising awareness of family planning. She also advocated the construction of dams, especially Kala Bagh, as Pakistan would be facing water scarcity.
