More than 60 arrested over forest fires: minister.

KHYBER -- Provincial Minister for Forests, Environment and Wildlife Mohammad Ishtiaq Urmar has said that more than 60 suspects have been arrested in different parts of the province for their alleged involvement in the recent forest fire incidents.

Addressing the launching ceremony of second phase of 'Climate Advocacy and Coordination for Resilient Action' in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber on Monday, he said that investigations were under way to ascertain the actual causes of the forest fires, which burnt thousands of threes alongside affecting the flora and fauna of different areas in the province.

The ceremony was arranged by the provincial government in collaboration with Pakistan Red Crescent Society to jointly tackle the effects of climate change in the tribal districts.

The minister said that provincial government would fully support the Pakistan Red Crescent Society in planting trees and tackling climate change effects in the all the tribal districts.
