Mongolia Wins Three Olympic Quotas From Asian Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament 2016

Bronze medalist of the World Wrestling Championships E.Sumiya competed in the women's 53 kg category of the Asian Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament 2016 and won a quota for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.

The Asian Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament 2016 is taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan from March 18.

In the first round, E.Sumiya beat South Korean wrestler Shinhye Lee 14:3, and won an Olympic quota by defeating India's Babita Kumari 15:8 in the semi-final. In the final, she wrestled against Vietnamese Ti Lua Nguen and won 8:2.

On Day 2 of the tournament, Mongolian athlete P.Orkhon won an Olympic quota in the women's 58 kg category and secured a silver medal. In the finals, she lost to Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kazakhstan 10:3.

"Our main goal here was to win a quota for the Olympic Games, not the gold medal," Mongolian national team coach B.Batbayar told the United World Wrestling Federation after O.Orkhon's 10:3 loss to Aisuluu Tynybekova.

"I think we will have to focus more on lower body attacks, but we also need to continue with the upper body wrestling as well," B.Batbayar said.
