Money laundering worth billions of rupees done in past: Chairman NAB.

ISLAMABAD -- Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said that money laundering not just a single penny but billions of rupees was done in the past.

He said that money laundering of billions of rupees caused poverty, misery, lack of health and education facilities in the country.

In the Madaraba case, naive and innocent people were robbed in the name of Islamic investment. By giving people greed for huge Shariah profits, their life savings were looted.

Chairman NAB said that Madaraba cases were the biggest robberies in the history of the country. Mufti Ehsan and his accomplices were sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Rs10 billion.

He said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the meeting of the Constituent Assembly termed bribery and nepotism as a major issue. Corruption is the root of all evils.
