MoCC successfully set up five point clean green Pakistan agenda in 2019.

ISLAMABAD -- Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) in a bid to make Pakistan climate change resilient and conserve its depleting environment successfully set up its Clean Green Pakistan five point agenda in 2019.

The ministry throughout the year focused on spearheading Clean Green Pakistan agenda comprising single time use plastic bags ban, 10 Billion Tree Tsunami plantation, electric vehicle policy, recharge Pakistan and Clean Green Pakistan Index (CGPI), a MoCC official told reporter.

MoCC also took daunting task of introducing ban on plastic bags and electric vehicle policy despite resistance and successfully developed Eco-system Restoration Fund for partner countries to partake in ecological conservation in Pakistan that would benefit the world, he added.

However, the most interesting initiative was the launch of Clean Green Pakistan Index that was an innovative idea bringing about competition between 19 cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Clean Green Pakistan Index (CGPI) was city and neighborhood level index that aims to rank the cities and neighborhoods according to their cleanliness and greenery. The key indicators in the index include water supply, sanitation, hygiene, solid waste management, street conditions, parks and trees cover in the area.
