'Missing' girl's body found in box at her home.

GUJRANWALA -- A minor girl who had gone missing two days ago was found dead in a box in her house at Gagaywali village on Wednesday.

According to police, 10-year-old Meerab had gone missing two days back.

Her parents had told the police that she had left their house at Gagaywali village to visit her grandfather's house that was situated nearby, but did not return.

The family searched for the girl, but to no avail.

The Aroop police registered a report about the missing girl.

On Wednesday, the family of Meerab felt foul smell in their house and started tracing its origin. On opening a box, they found the girl lying dead in it.

The Aroop police took the body in custody and shifted it to the district headquarters hospital for the postmortem examination.

The police suspected that Meerab was murdered after sexual abuse and detained a relative of the deceased girl for interogation.
