Misdirected policies resulting in hunger: Alvi.

LAHORE -- President Dr Arif Alvi says world nations' misdirected priorities are resulting in hunger, malnutrition and diseases and suggests priorities that lead health and happiness go hand in hand.

Unfortunately, he says, qabza (illegal occupation) and usurping others' rights have become a trend and cited the example of India occupying part of Kashmir. He also regretted that the same situation was in Pakistan too.

Saying that nations focus on big objectives, Dr Alvi said the political strains led nations to be less focused on human development and poverty alleviation.

Since Prime Minister Imran Khan came into power, he said, he tried his best to normalise Pakistan's relations with India and work jointly on human development, poverty alleviation and prevention of diseases.

The president was speaking at the inaugural session of the first conference of the Pakistan Nutrition and Dietetic Society (PNDS) at a local hotel on Friday.

He called for bringing physical activity into routine life and cited examples of former US president Barrack Obama and Prime Minister Imran Khan for their addiction to running and workout that helped masses to follow their icon personalities.
