Minorities' rights are protected in Pakistan, says US diplomat.

KARACHI -- The United States Deputy Consul General in Karachi, Jack Hillmeyer, said on Friday that the minorities' rights were protected in Pakistan as they celebrate their religious and social festivals freely.

He said that the efforts in this connection and especially the endeavours of Mayor Wasim Akhtar and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan for inter-religion harmony rightly deserved praise and appreciation.

The US Deputy CG expressed these views while speaking in a Christmas cake cutting ceremony held by Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar for members of the Christian community in Safari Park.

Representing the mayor, DMC Central chairman Rehan Hashmi along with director of Safari Park Kanwar Ayub welcomed the distinguished guests on this occasion.
