Mingora children launch drive to protect saplings.

MINGORA -- The children of Amankot area launched a drive to protect the newly planted saplings along streams damaged by recent flood.

The recent flood caused by the torrential rains not only entered affected houses in different areas but also damaged a large number of saplings, which were planted along the Jambil stream and Marghuzar stream.

The plantation was carried out by WSSC on both sides of the two streams under the green and clean Pakistan project, which was appreciated by all walks of life in Swat. But wave of concern grew among the people when the newly planted trees and saplings were damaged by the recent flood.

However, some children of Miangano Cham in Amakot area started campaign to restore and rehabilitate the fallen and damaged plants.

'The Marghuzar stream runs near our houses. We were very happy when the government planted trees along the stream but the flood damaged majority of the plants on both the sides of the stream. So we decided to come out and rehabilitate the fallen saplings,' said Mohammad Musa, a fourth grader, who was busy in protecting a plant.
