Message from H.E Imtiaz A. Kazi, Ambassador of Pakistan to Kazakhstan on the occasion of 1150th Anniversary of Abu Nasr al- Farabi and 175th Anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev.

It is indeed a pleasure to convey our warmest felicitations and sincere wishes not only to the brotherly people of Kazakhstan, but to the entire Central Asia, South Asia and West Asia region on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the great scholar and visionary Abu Nasr al-Farabi. Let me express our joyous congratulations to our Kazakh brothers and sisters that the year also coincides with the 175th anniversary and concomitant celebrations of Abay Kunanbayev.

I am also pleased to acknowledge the initiative and contribution of Mr. Asif Noor to dedicate this issue of his Diplomatic Insight magazine (May 2020) to the two outstanding personalities from our common heritage and history whose works have incessantly continued and will continue to meaningfully inspire the posterity of this region. These great names of all times namely; Abai and Al-Farabi need no introduction in Pakistan.

Abai Kunanbayev was indeed the popular poet, writer and a philosopher whose name, heritage, life and philosophy are valuable asset for the entire humanity. The deep philosophical meanings of Abai's works and his contribution to the world cultural heritage are worth cherishing, propagating and sharing. Abay, as a philosopher, poet, enlightener, a literary figure, translator, a composer left an indelible mark in the annals of literature, literacy and folk heritage of the East. The works of the great poet have not lost relevance today. Abay's philosophy does always lend an invaluable and spiritual support for all of us in our daily lives.

As regards Abu Nasr al-Farabihe is widely regarded as the founder of philosophy within the Islamic world. He was the first philosopher of his epoch to command the unqualified and well-deserved respect and esteem of his contemporaries and future generations. The works of Al-Farabi make us appreciate his stature as an original philosopher and innovative thinker whose accomplishments extend across multi-disciplinary fields of knowledge and thought. He wrote enduring works on logic, physics, metaphysics, music, and politics, as well as made important commentaries on the geniuses of his calibre namely; Aristotle and Plato.

The governments and the peoples of Pakistan and Kazakhstan are endeavouring in various ways for the development of not only political and economic relations, but also actively promoting literary, cultural, folk and people-to-people contacts between our two countries.
