Medal-winning athletes feted with cheques.

ISLAMABAD -- Federal Minister for IPC Dr Fehmida Mirza on Wednesday distributed cheques among players of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan who won medals during 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal last December.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Fehmida lauded not only the medal winners but also thanked their parents for encouraging their children.

The athletes to be honoured were Arshad Nadeem (who gold in javelin); Uzair Rehman (200-metre gold and 4x100m relay bronze); Mohammad Naeem (110-metre hurdles gold and 4x100m relay bronze); Mahboob Ali (400-metre hurdles gold and 4x400m relay bronze); Shams-ul-Haq (discuss throw bronze); Samiullah (100-metre bronze and 4x100m relay bronze); Umar Sadat won (4x400m relay bronze); Abdul Moeed (4x400m relay bronze); Nokar Hussain...
