'Mechanism developed to control cybercrime against children'.

ISLAMABD -- The institution of federal ombudsman has developed a road map for strengthening the mechanism to control cybercrime against children.

This was stated by Ejaz A. Qureshi, national commissioner for children to the federal ombudsman.

He said those working under the criminal justice system can play a vibrant role in raising awareness about cybercrime against children.

He was speaking at a national consultative meeting on 'Raising awareness on prevention and control of cybercrime against children' at the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat here on Monday.

He said a holistic approach was needed for the prevention and control of cybercrime against children because it had emerged as one of the most serious global issues.

Syeda Viquarun Nisa Hashmi, adviser at the ombudsman secretariat and convener of a subcommittee on raising awareness on prevention and control of cybercrime against children, briefed the participants on the achievements and road map on raising awareness on the issue.

She said in a proposed amendment, police would have jurisdiction to take cognizance of offences of cybercrime against children and refer the matter to the FIA for further investigation. She said judicial and police academies and mosques can play an important role in...
