Matric papers' marking begins.

SAHIWAL -- The marking of matric annual 2020 examination began simultaneously in nine boards of intermediate and secondary education (BISEs) of Punjab on Monday.

Boards stopped paper marking of class 10 papers in March because of the pandemic and ensuing lockdown.

Sahiwal BISE Chairman Hafiz Shafiq told Dawn the matric results would be announced in October.

Dawn learnt from sources the Provincial Cabinet Committee on Covid-19 approved SOPs for resumption of marking. Up to 177 marking centres have been established across Punjab for the marking of 9.2 million answer sheets of 1.1 candidates.

BISEs will finalise arrangements such as identification of marking centers, examination supervisors, paper checkers and IT teachers. Centers will be developed at district and tehsil level and marking will be completed in 75 days. Centers will be equipped with sanitizers, digital thermometers, masks and gloves. Physical distance will be monitored at marking centres.
