Mansehra court summons NHA officials over bad roads.

MANSEHRA -- A local consumer court on Monday summoned the National Highway Authority officials, including chairman, over dilapidated roads in the district.

Acting on a joint application of lawyers, judge Faryal Zia Mufti formally directed the NHA chairman, general manager (north), director (maintenance) and a deputy director to appear before her on Nov 15 to give explanation for the bad condition of major roads in Mansehra city and other parts of the district and share details of the utilisation of funds meant for their maintenance.

The applicants included Zia Mohammad Khan, Masood Shah, Asim Mumtaz, Azhar Sajjad and Ibrar Khan Swati.

Counsel Sheikh Noorulamin told reporters that the applicants sought details of the funds spent by the NHA on the repair and maintenance of the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road Section N-5, Karakoram Highway, and roads leading to Attershisha, Shinkiari, Lari Adda, city area and outskirts.

He said the court was also prayed to summon the NHA officials over the bad condition of roads in the district that inconvenienced their users despite the regular payment of taxes.
