Man shot dead in armed attack on car in Rawalpindi.

Rawalpindi -- Armed assailants on motorbike opened indiscriminate firing on a car with automatic weapons killing a man on the spot while leaving other injured at Lalkurti, informed sources on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday late night a few yards away from the office of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Range Imran Ahmer.

A murder case has also been registered against unknown killers with Civil Lines police station, they said.

According to sources, two men namely Waqar and Jahangir were sitting in a white car near clothes market in Lalkurti when two unidentified assailants riding on motorcycle appeared and one fired a volley of bullets on the vehicle. Resultantly, Waqar died on the spot after suffering multiple bullet injuries whereas his nephew Jahangir got injured.

The criminals managed to escape from the scene and a heavy contingent of police rushed to the crime scene. ASP Civil Lines Circle, SHO PS Civil Lines and investigators of Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) collected evidences from the crime scene besides recording statements of eyewitnesses as part of their investigation.

Rescue 1122 shifted the body and injured person to DHQ Hospital for autopsy.

The occurrence of firing incident also sent shockwaves among the shoppers and traders in the highly sensitive area.
