Man killed as truck hits van in Haripur.

HARIPUR -- A man was killed when a recklessly driven dumper truck hit his vehicle in the limits of Kotnajibullah police station.

Police said that Waseem Ehjaz, 32, a resident of Alooli village, was on his way back home in his high-roof van from Taxila after dropping his sister there when a loaded dumper truck hit his vehicle near Kangra Bypass. Waseem was injured critically in the accident.

The rescue workers shifted him to Trauma Centre where doctors pronounced him dead. The truck driver managed to escape. The deceased had returned from Saudi Arabia last week to spend his annual leave with his family.

Meanwhile, police arrested a man for allegedly attempting to molest a nine-year-old boy in T and T Housing Society.

City police station SHO Mphammad Arif Khan told Dawn that the mother of the boy accused a rickshaw driver of trying to molest her son when he was coming back from tuition class.

He said that the boy was saved by some passersby, who overpowered the driver and handed him over to police. Police registered a case against him.

The court of judicial magistrate sent the accused to Haripur jail on judicial remand.
