Man arrested for staging kidnap of minor son.

GUJRANWALA -- A joint team of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and Ferozwala police arrested a man on Friday who staged the kidnapping of his own son and recovered the minor boy from a Sialkot location.

In a press conference, City Police Officer (CPO) Umar Salamat told the media that on Jan 4, Shahbaz reported to the Ferozwala police that his 13-year-old son, Shahzeb, went to buy yogurt from a shop at around 7:30am but did not return.

A kidnap case was lodged by the police.

Police teams led by CIA DSP Gul Nawaz, Civil Line SP Rizwan Tariq, CIA Inspector Nesrat Mohal, and the Ferozewala SHO began working to solve the case.

During the initial investigation, the complainant informed the police team that he was receiving ransom calls from unidentified numbers demanding Rs15 million in exchange for the release of his son.

Later, he requested that his opponents, with whom he had financial disagreements, be arrested and questioned in the case.

This resulted in the arrest of Shahbaz, who disclosed that he is a property dealer who owes money to numerous people.

He claimed that because people were demanding money from him, he staged the ransom situation to get rid of them and incriminate his opponents.
