Man arrested for firing inside girls school.

LAKKI MARWAT -- The police on Friday arrested a man after he entered a girls school in Takht Nusrati area of Karak district, opened fire at female teachers and snatched a purse from one of them.

Officials said a Yaqoob Khan Shaheed police station team led by SHO Hakim Khan was patrolling Shah Salim area to check security arrangements in educational institutions when they heard gunshots. They said a traffic warden told the policemen that the firing incident had occurred in a government girls school in Takht Nusrati Bazaar.

They said teachers and students were crying for help when policemen reached there.

The policemen also spotted an armed man and ordered him to surrender, but he opened fire.

The personnel returned the fire, but the suspect escaped.

A schoolteacher, Zuhra Jabeen told the policemen that an unidentified suspect entered the school and snatched a purse from her containing a mobile phone, cash and national identity card after resorting to fire.

The police later arrested the man, identified as Abdullah, in Lawaghar Algada area, and recovered the stolen articles, a pistol and bullets from him.

A case was registered against him.

TRAINING SESSION: The agriculture department arranged a training session for farmers at the model farm services centre in Tajazai area of Lakki Marwat the other day to train them about the soil sampling process under the soil fertility mapping project.
