Locusts attack wheat crop in Bajaur.

KHAR -- Locusts coming from Afghanistan side have attacked standing wheat crop in different areas of Bajaur tribal district.

District agriculture officer Ziaul Islam Dawar told mediapersons that swarms of locusts entered the district from Afghanistan via Nawa Pass on Wednesday evening.

He said the locusts attacked standing wheat crop in Mamond tehsil and some other parts of the district.

Mr Dawar claimed that the agriculture department was ready to handle the locust attack. He said that they had launched spray in the affected areas to protect the crop from damage.

He advised the farmers to contact the agriculture department if they witnessed locusts in their areas. Answering a question, he said that teams of officials had been assigned the duty to visit different areas the district.

ARRESTED: The district administration has arrested several owners and workers of petrol pumps for overcharging customers in Bajaur tribal district.
