Local journalist, two friends drown in rainwater drain.

DADU -- A local journalist and his two friends apparently drowned to death in a natural rainwater drain, Nai Nali, near Wahi Pandhi town, 68 kilometres from here on Monday.

DSP Noor Mohammad Sohryani told journalists that the bodies of the 22-year-old journalist Abdullah Lashari, his friends Sajid Jamali, 21, and Zahid Jamali, 21, were found in the drain, 22km from Wahi Pandhi town.

The friends had left the town for Gorakh Hill Station on Sunday and when they arrived at the rainwater drain en route to the hill resort they might have decided to have a dip in its cool waters to take some respite from scorching heat but unfortunately, as it appeared they were carried away by strong currents to deep waters and drowned, he said.

Some passers-by spotted the bodies and informed police, who took them out with the help of relatives of the dead, he said.

The bodies were later brought to Johi taluka hospital where autopsy was carried out. According to initial report, all three had died after drowning, said MS Dr Mustafa Lashari.
