Local bodies asked to expedite housing colonies cases.


GUJRAT -- The local bodies institutions have been asked to accelerate the pending cases of new housing colonies as well as building designs.

The direction was issued by Gujranwala Commissioner Zahid Akhtar Zaman while chairing a meeting of officers of the Gujrat district administration as well as the managements of various municipalities, town committees and tehsil councils in Kharian on Tuesday.

Though the commissioner was visiting to review progress on the Clean and Green Pakistan Index (CGPI) across the district, but he specifically issued directions regarding the pending cases of housing colonies and designs of commercial buildings.

He also emphasised on the timely disposal of land revenue cases and said litigants should be given priority at government offices by ensuring the presence of officers in their respective offices.

Earlier, Kharian Assistant Commissioner Faisal Abbas Mangat briefed the participants of the meeting on the CGPI drive in his tehsil.

The commissioner told the administration to identify the main roads connecting various cities that were in a dilapidated condition so that the government could be asked for the release of funds to repair them.

He added that top priority in the CGPI drive must be given to beautifying the main entry and exit points of every city through clean roads, plantation of trees and developing greenbelts along these roads.
