Local admin weighs options to counter JUI-F's future strategy.

ISLAMABAD -- Local police and administration have started making plans to counter the marchers in case they violated the agreement and proceeded to the Red Zone after the expiry of the two-day deadline given by JUI-F's Maulana Fazlur Rehman to the prime minister to resign.

The Azadi March turned into a sit-in on Friday evening after the Maulana gave the deadline, which ends on Sunday evening.

The officers of the capital administration and police were discussing several options to counter any future strategy of the JUI-F.

According to the capital police and administration officials, the time given to the JUI-F's procession in the capital expired on Oct 31, making the gathering on Kashmir Highway and its adjacent areas now unlawful. Besides, provocative speeches were delivered at the public gathering.

The officers said on these two violations, action might be taken against the protesters and the leaders of the opposition parties who addressed the gathering.

However, it has been decided not to confront them till they created a law and order situation or tried to move to another location, the officers said, adding the option of cordoning and confining the protesters had also been discussed.

Besides, it has been decided to stop maximum people from joining the sit-in. In this regard, surveillance has been mounted at the entry points to stop people coming to the capital to participate in the procession.

Roads leading to the Red Zone may be blocked again on Sunday but it all depends on JUI-F's strategy, the officers said, adding intelligence was being collected from the procession where officials were closely watching the activities and preparations of the participants of...
