Lobbying continues to appoint Dr. Tanveer as Chairman OGRA.

Islamabad -- An example of conflict of interest and nepotism, on the appointment of key officials in the institutions of public interest, came into light.Dr. Tanveer, former Additional Secretary in Ministry of Petroleum, is being lobbied for the post of Chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). Although, he doesn't meet the terms and conditions issued by the government in the advertisement, for the appointment of Chairman OGRA.

According to sources, the Committee established to appoint Chairman OGRA, itself is neglecting the eligibility, experience as well as other terms and conditions issued by themselves.25 candidates were shortlisted, after the advertisement of appointing Chairman OGRA, who were interviewed as well. Now, out of these 25 candidates, 8 have been selected for the final interview including Dr. Tanveer.

Dr. Tanveer was the Additional Secretary in Ministry of Petroleum and has been retired 2-3 months ago.

According to sources, it is a clear example of conflict of interest and nepotism that the Additional Secretary of the Ministry, who supervise the policies of OGRA is going to be its leader.
